Officers and Organizational Structure

MCMA is governed by an Executive Board that consists of a President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and five directors. Ex-officio members include the immediate past president, president of the Association of Public Management Professionals (APMP), the executive director of the League of Minnesota Cities, and the executive director of the Association of Minnesota Counties.

The term of office for executive Board members is one year, and no officer may serve more than one consecutive elected term in each office. Directors also serve a term of one year, but may serve up to three consecutive terms.

The president is responsible for overall leadership of the Association, and for maintaining liaisons with outside affiliate organizations. The first vice president chairs the Recognition and Membership Committee. The second vice president chairs the Professional Development Committee, and is responsible for professional development, publications, and conference planning.

Election Procedures
All officers and directors are elected at the Annual Meeting of the association, which is normally held each May during the annual conference. A Nominations Committee, appointed by the president, notifies all members of the invitation for nominations at least 60 days prior to the Annual Meeting. The names of those placed on the ballot by the Nominating Committee are mailed to all members at least 30 days prior to the election.
